Have you ever had the urge to be seen without being exposed?
What does beauty have to do with it?
Is it only superficial?
Only skin deep?
Or does it mean that to see beauty we have to reach deep down into people, below the skin, deep into their minds, and deep in their hearts?
"So I want to be beautiful. Who doesn't? I feel exposed and hidden with my imperfection--got to keep that shirt on, legs covered. No freedom, trapped in my form. But if I was beautiful, perfect, flawless, nudity would be within my grasp. Nudity. Nudity. The ultimate reveal. Everything laid bare for the world. Everything seen and loved. To be seen as beautiful, it all comes together. To be seen. If I was beautiful I would not have to question being desired. No handicap for my hand-clapping social faux-pas. I would know that the women who dislike me do so out of personal interest and psychological links. There would be no threat of physical flaw marring my social relationships. If I was beautiful, then I wouldn't be as exposed in the world. With no physical flaws to be seen, I could be confident that only my psychological nature was at hand. No imperfection, the perfect body and skin and muscle leading the way. My body wouldn't be me, but would be camouflage. Interesting. I could hide behind my perfect beauty. Am I exposed by my imperfection? If I was beautiful then this pretty face and perfect body could be my shield against the world. Interesting. I want to be seen, don't I? Beauty would allow me to be seen without the danger of being seen imperfect, or judged. Beauty and being seen. Beauty would allow me to be seen without being exposed. The difference from displaying oneself and hiding oneself--I would have nothing to hide and everything to display. I could not be exposed. The beautiful-me is judged on action and thought alone, each of which I censor already."

As much as this book is another erotic romance, it also helps to understand fetishes: Voyeurism & Exhibitionism
"A voyeur and an exhibitionist appear to be a match made in paraphilic heaven. One loves to watch, the other loves to be watched."
"Stranger" by Secondhand Serenade
Turn Around
Turn Around and fix your eye in my direction
So there is a connection
I can't speak
I can't make a sound to somehow capture your attention
I'm staring at perfection
Take a look at me so you can see
How beautiful you are
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
But all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broke and abandoned
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
I'm confident
But I can't pretend I wasn't terrified to meet you
I knew you could see right through me
I saw my life flash right before my very eyes
And I knew just what we'd turn into
I was hoping that you could see
Take a look at me so you can see
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
But all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broke and abandoned
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
Take a look at me so you can see
How beautiful you are
[x4]
Your beauty seems so far away
I'd have to write a thousand songs to make you comprehend how beautiful you are
I know that I can't make you stay
But I would give my final breath to make you understand how beautiful you are
Understand how beautiful you are
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
But all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broke and abandoned
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
You call me a stranger
Let nothing be lost upon you.
Always search for new sensations.
Be afraid of nothing....
Is it new hedonism?
Or just enjoying the life?
