The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Review on Goodreads
Whoa...by the end I've experienced that gut-wrenching feeling and was about to cry in despair but happily there was a happy ending awaiting.
It's a story of redefining yourself after a big life change and establishing a new improved self-esteem. I got to experience an inner battle, silent suffering, overcoming the limits, simplicity and the joy of life and also the strength of family ties, and above it all a love story.

Review: Fallen Too Far (Rosemary Beach #1) by Abbi Glines
Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Review on Goodreads
When I started reading this book I felt like I was about to go bungee jumping
I was like: c'mon guys! let's go
I was that thrilled...
You know the story- good girl meets bad boy kind of thing
I was feeling like I was once again watching the old good Gossip Girl, though I would point out the gender differences- I don't think Dan Humprey would fit the image of a pretty blond girl ;D
oh right, enough is enough, now how about the characters?
Blaire definetely was an outsider in the uppity society, though she was tough and would always come up with sneaky comments, totally fun to get along...
When we get to know Rush as a rock star's son, all bad boy and cranky attitude, it's hard not to feel all kinds of swirling emotions.
Would I rather kick his ass or kiss the living shit out of him?
It's enough to say I wasn't quite expecting these kinds of events to happen at the end.
I knew there was something wrong with the whole Nan secret and I was prepared for a more twisted explanation, but I guess it's good as it is, still...poor Blaire...so emotionally drained...

"Line And Sinker" by Billy Talent
What you see is what you get (don't you know)
Fishing for the answer with a line and sinker
Look at me and don't forget (don't you know)
Hard to get a grip with all these broken fingers
[x2]
Today I don't feel pretty
And i'm tired of trying to fit right in
Don't think that you're so great
Cause being great must suck
We don't always see the bright side
We all need ego suicide
You hung my id today
But I have licked my wounds and carried on
Everybody needs some sympathy
Santa seemed to miss my chimney
Reality is truly scaring me
So stand up straight and firmly say
What you see is what you get (don't you know)
Fishing for the answer with a line and sinker
Look at me and don't forget (don't you know)
Hard to get a grip with all these broken fingers
[x2]
My heart is in the right place
So wipe that smirk right off your face
Don't make me feel like that
Cause that's just plain not nice
We don't always see the bright side
And I lied when I said I was fine
You slapped my face today
But I have licked my wounds and carried on
Everybody needs some sympathy
Santa seemed to miss my chimney
Reality is truly scaring me
So stand up straight and firmly say
What you see is what you get (don't you know)
Fishing for the answer with a line and sinker
Look at me and don't forget (don't you know)
Hard to get a grip with all these broken fingers
[x2]
Everybody needs some sympathy
Santa seemed to miss my chimney
You stole my luck from me
And now my fortune cookie's empty
Cause you came and you stole it all from me
So stand up straight and firmly say
What you see is what you get (don't you know)
Fishing for the answer with a line and sinker
Look at me and don't forget (don't you know)
Hard to get a grip with all these broken fingers

Review: Glory in Death (In Death #2) by J.D. Robb
Glory in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Review on Goodreads
While the story is initially what grabs you when you choose a book, isn't it the characters that keep you reading?
In this series, they certainly are.
The second book shows how the relationship between Eve and Roake evolves.
Eve is reluctant and scared of commitment which makes Roarke furious at most times. So you know what he does? Give her a taste of her own medicine. Yes, he's a vicious little smartass but we love him for that ;)
"Today's the day that we start this war
Make up your mind and decide what you are fighting for
You still have so much left to learn about
The decisions you make, be it so hard to break
If you can't make room for raising the stakes
You'll find yourself exposed to the fallout
And in a drawn-out series of undeniable mistakes
The perfect punch to a perfect line"
When things stop working or seem difficult, really all you need to do is take a step back and look at it from a whole new angle.
What is there that you didn’t see before?
It's all about perspective
So that's why Eve takes a step back and tries to see things differently.
And guess what she sees?
That smartass is exactly what she needs, no denying...
He knows how to get his way, oh yes, he does ;)
“Hmm. We’ll have others. But there’s one thing.”
“Hmm?” She flexed her fingers, relieved that they seemed to be back in full working order. The MTs knew their stuff.
“I want you to marry me.”
“Uh-huh. Well, we’ll — ” She stopped, nearly stumbled, then gaped at him with her good eye. “You want what?”
“I want you to marry me.”
He had a bruise on his jaw, blood on his coat, and a gleam in his eye. She wondered if he’d lost his mind. “We’re standing here, beat to shit, walking away from a crime scene where either or both of us could have bought it, and you’re asking me to marry you?”
He tucked his arm around her waist again, nudged her forward. “Perfect timing.”"

Too many voices
Too many noises
Invisible wires keeping us apart.
So many choices,
But they're all disappointments
And they only steal me away from you.
Climb into our own private bubble
Let's get into all kinds of trouble
Slide over here, let your hands feel the way
There's no better method to communicate
Girl, stop your talking
Words just get in the way
I'll be your man
So baby come over
From the end of the sofa
I'll be your man
I'll be your man
So many faces
Staring at their shoelaces
When all anyone wants is to be seen
So tonight let's be honest
We all want to be wanted
And darlin' you've got me wantin' you
Everything that I'm trying to say
Just sounds like a worn out cliche.
Slide over here, let your hands feel the way
There's no better method to communicate
Girl, stop your talking
Words just get in the way
I'll be your man
So baby come over
From the end of the sofa
I'll be your man
I'll be your man
What are we all looking for?
Someone we just can't ignore
It's real love dripping from my heart,
You've got me tripping
What are we all looking for?
Oh....
Slide over here, let your hands feel the way
There's no better method to communicate
Girl, stop your talking
Words just get in the way
I'll be your man
So baby come over
From the end of the sofa
I'll be your man

Review: The Love Game (The Game #1) by Emma Hart
The Love Game by Emma Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Overall it was a good read but my expectations might have been a little too high; I was just a bit disappointed. Guess, I was hoping for more of a 'wicked' game, more smartass comments and so on...
Braden and Maddie, they made a quite peculiar couple. He was all playboy, she was a little princess, all from the outside. From the inside they were a little more complicated. She was broken, he was uncertain and together they made an impression of a questionable match. But in the end, when the truth comes to the surface, it's too late to have doubts. Love wins and it itself is always a win-win...

Have you ever had the urge to be seen without being exposed?
What does beauty have to do with it?
Is it only superficial?
Only skin deep?
Or does it mean that to see beauty we have to reach deep down into people, below the skin, deep into their minds, and deep in their hearts?
As much as this book is another erotic romance, it also helps to understand fetishes: Voyeurism & Exhibitionism
"A voyeur and an exhibitionist appear to be a match made in paraphilic heaven. One loves to watch, the other loves to be watched."
Let nothing be lost upon you.
Always search for new sensations.
Be afraid of nothing....
Is it new hedonism?
Or just enjoying the life?

"So I want to be beautiful. Who doesn't? I feel exposed and hidden with my imperfection--got to keep that shirt on, legs covered. No freedom, trapped in my form. But if I was beautiful, perfect, flawless, nudity would be within my grasp. Nudity. Nudity. The ultimate reveal. Everything laid bare for the world. Everything seen and loved. To be seen as beautiful, it all comes together. To be seen. If I was beautiful I would not have to question being desired. No handicap for my hand-clapping social faux-pas. I would know that the women who dislike me do so out of personal interest and psychological links. There would be no threat of physical flaw marring my social relationships. If I was beautiful, then I wouldn't be as exposed in the world. With no physical flaws to be seen, I could be confident that only my psychological nature was at hand. No imperfection, the perfect body and skin and muscle leading the way. My body wouldn't be me, but would be camouflage. Interesting. I could hide behind my perfect beauty. Am I exposed by my imperfection? If I was beautiful then this pretty face and perfect body could be my shield against the world. Interesting. I want to be seen, don't I? Beauty would allow me to be seen without the danger of being seen imperfect, or judged. Beauty and being seen. Beauty would allow me to be seen without being exposed. The difference from displaying oneself and hiding oneself--I would have nothing to hide and everything to display. I could not be exposed. The beautiful-me is judged on action and thought alone, each of which I censor already."

"Stranger" by Secondhand Serenade
Turn Around
Turn Around and fix your eye in my direction
So there is a connection
I can't speak
I can't make a sound to somehow capture your attention
I'm staring at perfection
Take a look at me so you can see
How beautiful you are
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
But all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broke and abandoned
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
I'm confident
But I can't pretend I wasn't terrified to meet you
I knew you could see right through me
I saw my life flash right before my very eyes
And I knew just what we'd turn into
I was hoping that you could see
Take a look at me so you can see
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
But all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broke and abandoned
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
Take a look at me so you can see
How beautiful you are
[x4]
Your beauty seems so far away
I'd have to write a thousand songs to make you comprehend how beautiful you are
I know that I can't make you stay
But I would give my final breath to make you understand how beautiful you are
Understand how beautiful you are
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
But all these thoughts are leaving you tonight
I'm broke and abandoned
You are an angel
Making all my dreams come true tonight
You call me a stranger
You say I'm a danger
You call me a stranger

Review: Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour #3) by Olivia Cunning
Hot Ticket by Olivia Cunning
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Review on Goodreads
So far it was the best book in this series.
Those of us who have already read it are fully aware and acquainted with the fact that each of the Sinners has their own little story... and everything.
Unique perspective, skeletons in the closet and wicked ways with women (alright, maybe not only women ;))
Yet the story from Jace's POV was in my opinion the most intriguing and gripping.
The broken part of him? His ability to cut everyone off?
Sad but so lovely.
And cute. Yes, he was definitely cute, even while knocking other guys out cold
Priceless ;D
I loved every part of him, broken or not.
They say there's a fine line between pleasure and pain.
"There's no way I'm turning back
Now the pain is my pleasure 'cause nothing could measure"
"Sticks and stones may break my bones
But chains and whips excite me"
Still, Aggie somehow found a way to reach the balance.
I really liked the harsh, kickass side of her.
She knew just how to handle his insecurities and that made her a perfect match for Jace.
You could see it in the way they 'operated' ;)
I guess I don't really have to mention that the book is full of hot scenes, do I?
The title speaks for itself ;D

One girl, two guys...what's gonna come out of this?
One hell of a fight, that's for sure.
If not for some inconsistencies in the story development like who, where and when, it could be a brilliant book. Overall, I liked the twists and turns and scheming but really hated the main female character. She's just so immature and generally indecisive.
What rubbed me the wrong way all along was Angel's tendency to get involved with the wrong man.
From the very beginning I knew something was missing.
What you get at first is the "duo turned trio"
Kevin: uninhibited, tattooed bad boy, self assured of his good looks, charming toward the opposite sex. Angel's fellow student, closet businessman, cocky smartass.
Roman: refined businessman and gentleman with respect towards women. Rich and old fashioned. Enjoys to chase after a girl.
Stop there. Yes, I knew it. Here comes the "not-so-gentlemany" side of his. Caveman, control freak, brutal, manipulative jerk. Pure evil.
Angel: The girl has a big mouth. A runaway from a wealthy family, with cravings for affection, searching for love, she self-destructively steps right into the lion's den.
Why so desperately?
Girl, why were you so stupid?
Wasn't it enough?
As the story (and past) shows, the choice was always one but when you're blinded by a good disguise of manly affection, in this case what you see is NOT what you got.
Be tough
I'd like to share my thoughts if you don't mind ;) It's just that I really think if only some things had been changed in the plot it could have gotten a wide and very satisfied public. What I mean is that from time to time I had to wonder and guess some details like age of the characters - I assumed Roman was a few years older than Angel and maybe Kevin. In addition I didn't quite get the image of who is who and why it's the way it is. What intrigued me is why did she choose the medic school. And Kevin, how did he get into the business? Is he related to Angel's father? To Roman maybe? I mean it's the same company and the men seemed to hate each other from the start- like they have known one another for a while.
Has Roman owned the club all along or was it his cousin's and he bought it to keep tabs on Angel?
When did it happen etc.
What bothers me the most is that the relationship between Angel and the two men especially Roman has been moving too fast. From complete strangers they've suddenly become a thing (him with the urge to murder anyone who's a possible competition) and it seemed suspicious to me but maybe it was the author's intention to get the readers to wish things started in a slower pace so the girl could wrap her head around the whole situation.
I've seen the trouble coming all along.
Sorry about that. I just had to say what's on my mind. :)

It was supposed to be a story of Cam and Jo...and so it was, but why in the hell did the best moments of it include Joss and Braden in the action?
I just dont't get it...
Overall Jo's attitude made me want to strangle her, she was so infuriating in some situations, e.g. if she was so inclined toward helping her brother and keeping him safe, why couldn't she just swallow her pride and get the job Braden so openly offered?
-She's a walking contradiction- she feels unworthy and self-conscious, then the next second she refers to herself as a hottest thing ever, the way she uses men like she doesn't even care and then she whines about losing them...and so on...
In ODS Joss was kinda hard chick and while reading Down London Road, I couldn't fathom how could she change so drastically with all the drama she surrounded herself with, not to mention that the story dragged on way too long and I didn't feel the rush that always accompany me when I'm reading a really good book. Thus, my conclusion is that it wasn't a great book, but I liked some parts of it, so overall it's 3 stars...

A series? Really?
Imo that's not a story that requires more than one book to fit in all the necessary facts and events.
It felt way too prolonged and far-fetched. Still I liked it in general but was expecting some more answers e.g. what happened to her etc.?
Guess I'm gonna find out later...
Btw It seems like all the spin-off stories downgraded the experience of reading the writing of R.K. Lilley

They say sometimes there's some truth to our dreams but what if the dreams are really our coping mechanism, an unconscious choice to try and control our anxiety from the past?
What if they keep you from falling further into an abyss of hopelessness and self-destruction?
But then there comes a time when that all is confronted with a real feeling of hope. The hope growing inside of you with just one look, a gesture, a smile, a word. Step by step you're starting to trust again, to feel again.
But you need to remember it's forbidden. Keep it low, keep it slow 'cause it's bound to be exposed...
And then puff...
You're left in suspense
That's what reading Breach has made me feel and I must say I'm in for the ride to fix the Infraction ;)
